Appearance

Height: 5’4” Sex: Female

Elise’s presence is striking yet subtly unsettling, her body marked by the grafted egos of various animals. Her snake-like red eyes are her only common perceivable feature, with slitted pupils and a gleaming, almost hypnotic gaze. While traveling she covers her body with thigh clothes while wearing a long vest, she has gloves that hide her cat-like hands, able to pull claws from inside them, but besides the clothes, she constantly changes attires according to the place she goes to blend in.

Her face is permanently irradiating self-confidence, with an eerie but graceful movement, she keeps her face emotionless and calculated, until her primal urges take over.

Personality

Elise is pragmatic, she attempts to be calculating and adaptive though she can fall victim to her own emotions when it comes to personal matters, her demeanor is often shaped by the company she keeps. She is a master of deception. While she can be cold and detached when the situation demands it, she can manipulate conversations and situations to her advantage.

Her mutated ego, filled with the echoes of animal instincts, drives her to be hyper-aware of her surroundings. A lot of times it seems like she has different personalities that she calls on by making a different ego in her body dominate.

Backstory

Elise was once a normal child, abandoned and orphaned before becoming the subject of a radical experiment by an ego researcher named Glare Borne. Her ego was grafted with those of various animals, giving her incredible abilities but also altering her personality. She is now a prototype of a new kind of human evolution, one designed to endure the mental and physical strains of magic. Even if she cannot utilize magic itself, she has vast control of the egos on her body, calling on them to use animalistic-like abilities.

Her primary mission is to aid her researcher in seeking out fragments of Eldrin The Worldbinder soul, to push humanity beyond its current limits.

She is deemed a successful prototype, she is a spy for an ego researcher who is looking for different parts of Eldrin The Worldbinder in the search for the evolution of man, where the human ego can withstand the abnormal strains of trying to use too much magic, as his wife died during research where her ego was shattered on an experiment were she tried to withhold a monster that had a shard of Eldrin’s soul.

Ability

Mutated, Elise’s ego was altered by a researcher. Her ego is like the one of a chimera where her ego has been permanently grafted into the ego of different animals, as such she can call on the abilities of such animals, she can take animal shape or become in-between human and animal where she has the abilities of a human enhanced by those of the animal.

Of the grafted animals, a few of the ones known are:

  • Cobra Snake
  • Leopard
  • Axolotl
  • Pangolin
  • Chameleon

Connections

Elise’s connections are driven largely by pragmatism, though her growing attachment to the group remains hidden beneath her calculating exterior even to herself. Her relationships with the other members of The Bladeshards are complex, shaped by her need to balance her role as a spy with her slowly growing emotional connection to the group.

  • Kaelen Greenforge: Sees her as naive but useful, with no deep connection other than curiosity about her potential value mostly driven by how she might use Kaelen for her own needs.
  • Lirael Brightstar (Potential Romance): Views him as useful and potentially powerful, someone with great potential that he has yet to fully realize, Elise is cautious due to her fear of being discovered as she knows how perceptive Lirael can be, though her animalistic nature leads to occasional careless approaches that confuse him.

  • Dornak Boulderfist: Regards him as a reliable but simple-minded ally, She doesn’t bother to expend much mental energy on him, for her he is just a “good idiot” who serves his purpose in battle.

  • Roland Vestar: Sees him as an effective leader primarily because of his control over others, though she finds him too righteous for her liking and feels no personal attachment. Elise views Roland more as a tool for maintaining the group’s cohesion rater than as a leader to be admired.
